Dubai has once again proven its appeal to executive nomads, ranking first in the Savills Executive Nomad Index for the second consecutive year. Abu Dhabi also maintains its second place ranking for the second year in a row. Malaga (3rd), Miami (4th), and Lisbon (5th) follow closely, showcasing the growing popularity of these destinations among remote business leaders.
The Savills Executive Nomad Index evaluates 30 locations based on their attractiveness and accessibility for long-term remote workers. Internet speed, air connectivity, climate stability, prime residential market prices, and overall quality of life are all taken into consideration, with the total score determining the overall ranking.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai takes the lead for its excellent flight network, while Abu Dhabi ranks first in terms of internet speed. These factors, combined with tax efficiency, lifestyle, safety, and ease of doing business, make the UAE the top choice for executive nomads, according to Andrew Cummings, head of Savills Residential Agency in the Middle East.
As the global employment market becomes increasingly mobile, the executive nomad has emerged as a unique and influential group of remote-working professionals. These individuals, often business founders, senior managers, or entrepreneurs, seek out locations that offer both connectivity and a high quality of life, enabled by technology.
This year, the Savills Executive Nomad Index has expanded to include new locations that now offer visa options for long-term remote workers, such as Tokyo (11th place) and Berlin (28th spot). According to Savills, these cities are not only major economic hubs but also vibrant cultural centers.
Vancouver (18th) and Auckland (9th) have also been added to the index as important regional business centers. “The landscape for executive nomads is evolving,” says Kelcie Sellers, associate director of Savills World Research, “with countries like Canada and New Zealand now offering long-term visitor visas that allow for fully remote employment during an individual’s stay.”
