Last month marked the grand opening of Motto by Hilton Hong Kong Soho, situated in the bustling Sheung Wan District. This 274-room hotel is the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific (Apac) region for the Motto brand, a new addition to Hilton’s portfolio of luxury and lifestyle brands.
The opening of Motto by Hilton Hong Kong Soho is part of Hilton’s efforts to expand its presence in the Apac region. Earlier this year, Hilton opened its first Waldorf Astoria property in Osaka and the Secan Hotel Qingdao, a property under its Curio Collection, in China’s Shandong Province. According to a press release, Hilton now has over 160 luxury and lifestyle hotels in operation in the Apac region.
Hilton is set to continue this growth with several new properties in the pipeline, including new Waldorf Astoria hotels in Bali and Shanghai. The Bali property is scheduled to open in 2027 and will be the brand’s first in Indonesia. Additionally, the NoMad Singapore and Canopy by Hilton Makati in the Philippines are set to open in 2026.
Further down the line, Hilton has plans for other properties, including seven Waldorf Astoria hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Sydney, Xi’an, Tokyo, Delhi, and Bali. The group also intends to expand their Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand to Jaipur, Kuala Lumpur, Nagoya, Bangkok, and China.
According to Alan Watts, Hilton’s president of Apac, “Asia Pacific continues to be an important area of growth for Hilton’s luxury and lifestyle brands.” He notes that there is a strong demand for unique and experiential stays in the region, and Hilton is proud to lead the way in shaping the future of hospitality.
Hilton’s future plans in the Apac region include a 50% increase in their portfolio of luxury and lifestyle properties, with the goal of exceeding 250 hotels across both categories in the region. This significant growth reflects Hilton’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for travelers in the Apac region.
