Dubai’s Savills Executive Nomad Index again leads as the top destination for executive nomads. This marks Dubai’s second consecutive year in first place, with Abu Dhabi maintaining its second place ranking for the second year in a row. Following closely behind are Malaga (3rd), Miami (4th), and Lisbon (5th), demonstrating the increasing appeal of these locations for remote business leaders.
The Savills Executive Nomad Index ranks 30 destinations based on their attractiveness and accessibility for long-term remote workers. The cities are evaluated on factors such as internet speed, air connectivity, climate stability, prime residential market prices, and overall quality of life, with the combined score determining their ranking.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai stands out for its extensive flight network, while Abu Dhabi excels in terms of internet speed. These factors, along with tax efficiency, lifestyle, safety, and ease of doing business, make the UAE the top choice for executive nomads, according to Andrew Cummings, head of Savills Residential Agency in the Middle East.
The rise of the executive nomad has been fueled by the increasing mobility of the global job market, with these remote-working professionals seeking locations that offer both connectivity and a high quality of life. As a result, the Savills Executive Nomad Index has been extended this year to include cities that were not previously featured but now offer long-term visa options for remote workers, such as Tokyo (11th) and Berlin (28th). These cities are not just major economic hubs, but also vibrant cultural centers.
Other cities that have been added to the index include Vancouver (18th) and Auckland (9th), which are significant regional business hubs. According to Kelcie Sellers, associate director of Savills World Research, the landscape for executive nomads is evolving, with countries like Canada and New Zealand offering revised long-term visitor visas that allow for fully remote employment for the duration of a person’s stay.
