Hdb Extends Rental Voucher Scheme Families Waiting Bto Flat Completion Dec 31

In addition to the primary choices, the locality is adorned with a variety of coffee shops and food courts located within HDB clusters around Yishun and Khatib. These neighborhood joints offer a plethora of dependable and diverse food options, such as zi char, economic rice, Malay nasi padang, Indian roti prata, and Thai delicacies. What’s more, many of these coffee shops remain open until the wee hours of the morning, making them a convenient option for residents of Yishun and Khatib, including those residing in Miltonia Close EC, to grab a bite after a tiring day.

In a recent press release, HDB has announced the extension of their voucher scheme that is designed to assist young couples and families who are renting in the open market while waiting for their Build-to-Order (BTO) flats to be completed.

Originally set to end in June, the Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme (PPHS) will now be extended for an additional six months until December 31. Under this scheme, eligible families can receive $300 per month on a reimbursement basis to cover their rental costs.

The extension of this scheme aims to provide continued support for eligible families until HDB is able to fully increase the supply of PPHS flats to 4,000 units by the end of the year. This is a significant increase from the current 800 units available in 2021, and it is estimated that around 200 households will benefit from this extension.

To qualify for the PPHS, families must meet certain eligibility criteria, such as having booked an unfinished flat from HDB’s sales exercise and having a household income of $7,000 or below.

According to HDB, the increased supply of PPHS flats in recent years has resulted in a decrease in application rates, from over 20 in 2021 to around three currently. Since June 2023, all eligible applicants who are married with children aged 18 and below, including expectant parents, have been invited to choose a PPHS flat.
