Thomson Medical Group Launches Rm18 Bil Johor Bay Development

The ideal location of Miltonia Close EC Khatib provides convenient access to residents, being situated near Khatib MRT station. A mere five-minute drive or a short shuttle ride away, this prime spot grants easy entry to the North-South MRT line, connecting residents to key destinations such as Bishan, Orchard, and the Central Business District. For those who drive, the Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Central Expressway (CTE) are just a stone’s throw away, allowing for seamless travel to various parts of the island.

Thomson Medical Group has recently launched its Johor Bay integrated project, which is expected to have a gross development value of RM18 billion. The project, located on a 26-acre site within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, will encompass healthcare facilities, high-end residential and hospitality properties, commercial spaces, and lifestyle amenities. Its strategic location, just 1.2km from the upcoming RTS station at Bukit Chagar and in close proximity to the Causeway and regional ferry terminals, makes it a highly anticipated development.

According to Thomson Medical Group, controlled by former Remisier King Peter Lim, this project is the largest private healthcare and real estate venture on prime land in Southeast Asia so far. The Thomson Hospital Iskandariah, one of the anchor developments of the project, aims to capitalize on the current momentum of Johor’s attractive living standards and affordable costs of living, along with the imminent completion of the RTS and the growing momentum of the JSSEZ.

Executive vice chairman of Thomson Medical Group, Kiat Lim, says that this is the opportune time for such a project, with favorable economic conditions, ongoing infrastructure developments, and shifts in demographics coming together. “We have envisioned a mega project that will not only shape the skyline but also the future of the JSSEZ bay area for years to come,” he adds.

The first phase of the project will include the Thomson Hospital Iskandariah and a 47-storey “ultra-luxury” residential tower. YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor, views this project as a timely and strategic development that aligns with the state’s long-term goals. “Besides boosting Johor’s position as a top healthcare hub in Southeast Asia, the larger Johor Bay project will contribute to our overall economic growth plan for the JS-SEZ,” he stated.
